"Hate the Sin, Love the... Sorry, I Forgot the Rest!"

Warning: This blog is entirely aimed at Christians. The contents presented are in reference to the homosexual agenda, and the church's(all churches) failure to gain ground both in respect & conversion. Anyone is more than welcome to read, but please don't see this as some kind of "hate speech"; my purpose is improve the church's reputation as a whole in the eyes of the homosexual community.

Lately, the Lord has really been speaking to me about the many, many ways that the church in general has faltered in its mission to develop true conversions in the body of Christ. Statistics have shown that the growth in some churches, usually is at the expense of congregate members of other churches relocating. Not from impacting the lives of sinners and bringing them into the Kingdom of God. A 2007 American study stated that if every Christian church building in this country was filled to capacity, 97% of American citizens would not be able to find a seat. What a sad statistic considering that until President Obama recently stated otherwise, the U.S.A is and always will be a Christian nation.

My point is this, it's time that the Christians in this country start focus with passion on "winning souls" not allow our focus to be misdirected, trying to win this lifelong game of "musical churches". That's pretty much the situation. For the most part American churches have traded members, not converted new ones. We have bragged about the growth in one church, not noticing the church across the street has had to shut down due to it's members leaving for the aforementioned church, despite being just as Spirit-filled as the other. Numbers have played such a part in this "game", which is understandable to a degree, after all numbers mean money. But enough focusing all our resources into impressing the already saved! It's high time to start doing everything we can to answer God's most heartfelt cry, the salvation of souls!

One area, and a very sensitive one that we have completely dropped the ball with, is the church's dealings with the homosexual agenda. How vast of a gap do we want there to be between us and them, before we realize that our current course is not working. With everyday that goes by, every law reform we strive to disallow, and every anti-gay rambling from a bozo with an internet connection(not myself of course), the job of reaching these lost souls who are just as cherished by the Creator as you and I, more and more seemingly insurmountable. There, in reality, have only been two stances that the American church has taken on this issue, and two stances that are failing miserably. The first one, which I will call the "sissy stance", and the second, which I will call the "mess-less stance".

Sissy stance has been a more modern approach to the situation. Some churches and even denominations, have become widely accepting of the "gay-genda", even to the point of allowing those living the homosexual lifestyle to become bishops, deacons, reverends, and other leadership positions held in our churches. This is the stance that has allowed laws to be offered into vote, that will make it illegal for Christian ministers to NOT perform same sex marriages. This stance shows its own flaws and are not the priority idea for this entry. Even with its obvious flaws, and sin issues, at least they are trying something to bridge this gaping chasm 'tween gays and the church.

What I strongly want to refer to in this piece is the damaging, heart-breaking, self loathing, and merciless stance I call "mess-less". I believe this to have done more to discredit the church in the eyes of the homosexual, but also the hearts of Liberals, than the colonial art of "burning witches at the stake"! We have found ourselves so hated by gays the world over for our harsh rhetoric, and so dismissed by Liberals and media alike that the true Christian church has become nothing more than folklore and wive's tales in their sights. Oh, we are so understanding and forgiving as long as the gays are lining our altars and our wallets, but that's where we want to leave it. We use scripture like "Go and sin no more", just like Jesus said it, but with the love and compassion of a baked potato! We want to change their lives, get 'em saved, and "bring in the sheeves", just as long as we don't half to get our hands dirty doing it. We charge these gay men, "homosexuality is a vile sin, become born-again and start digging chicks!" We offer demands to lesbian women, "stop your disgusting sin this instant, grow out your hair and act like a lady. Now marry, and have kids!" Yes, homosexuality is sin. Yes these folks need to allow Jesus in their hearts. But we can't stop there! Just because we are uncomfortable with their lifestyles, irked by the sin, we can't just bop them on the noggin and send them on their merry way, thinking that we just did God's kingdom some great service, like we just dragged the Lord the Head of Goliath! Homosexuality can not be construed as a demon, something to be cast out of these beloved souls. It must be treated as illness, prayed for and nurtured into a complete healing. We don't pray for cancer patients to be healed, and then leave them alone, wagging our judgment-finger in their faces for losing their hair. We can't lay hands on the blind, claim them healed, then watch callously as they march into oncoming traffic. True Christians stay, through the battle, unwavering, unjudging, to the end! We share in defeats AND victories! We so politically preached to the validity of alcoholism and drug addiction as being diseases. We came up support groups and programs like AA and NA. We even got the non-believing world to allow for the existence of God in these groups by calling Him the "higher power". I have prayed with many addicts, never once did I say to them, "drugs are bad, beer is bad, mmmkay..." then smack them on the fanny, with a stern face sending back to their world to succeed only to curse them for not succeeding. No, I stayed close to them, got them into a program, a support group. Helped clean out their fridges and closets getting rid of the things that are a hindrance for their success. I even carried buckets of vomit, for one dear friend, as he went through the torment of withdrawals. Yet, with the homosexuals, we don't wanna see or even think about the garbage they have to go through to be healed of this affliction. It's gross, uncomfortable, and unpleasant, but it is no different than the sins that God Himself has removed from the hearts and lives of every one of us that is called by that precious name "Christian".

I think it's time to start doing whatever it takes, aside from sin, to restore the "divide" between the American church and the homosexual community. We pray in some churches for "God to break our hearts for the lost souls to be saved", we just better allow God to include all souls, even the ones that may creep us out a little... I learned a long time ago that cute little phrase, "Hate the sin, but love the sinner." A theme that is long forgotten in way too many churches.
